PORCH CONCERT in Celebration of Chickens

Laura MacKenzie & Gary Rue present a program of music and stories in celebration of International Respect for Chickens month. Hen and rooster-themed traditional tunes and songs, several originals from Gary Rue, plus the introduction of a special friend or two or three. Classic American Country Music. The seven members of Lush Country are longtime Twin Cities headliners and Prairie Home Companion veterans: Joe Savage, Richard Kriehn, Peter Johnson, Gary Raynor, Gary Rue, Prudence Johnson and Dan Chouinard.

May 7th -May 29th: "1898. Swedish immigrant Olaf Ohman digs up a rock on his property near Kensington, MN with “a story on carved runes” that tells that the Vikings were the first Europeans to set foot in Minnesota. He is praised for his discovery but soon controversy erupts and his life is turned upside down with claims of “Fake! Fraud! Liar!” Step back in time and enjoy the ride with this whimsical rock ‘n roll musical. Rock on!!"

“The Piano Man” is a melodious salute to the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s, through the classic songs of Elton John, Billy Joel, Jackson Browne and more! Presented by Sidekick Theatre, his fun filled musical trip down memory lane features a full band with Brian Pekol on keyboards singing such tunes as “Rocket Man”, “Benny and the Jets”, Running on Empty”, and of course “Piano Man”.

DANCE PARTY REUNION is a 're-staging' of Buddy Holly's 1959 WINTER DANCE PARTY, featuring music of Buddy's co-stars, Ritchie Valens ("La Bamba", performed by Allen Malicsi); Dion & the Belmonts (with Brian Pekol, singing "Teenager in Love"), The Big Bopper ("Chantilly Lace", featuring Zach Spicer) and Frankie Sardo ("Fake Out", featuring Gary Rue).

Featuring four of the Twin Cities best male vocalists, FOOLS FALL IN LOVE celebrates the swingin’ quartet-driven harmonies of the era to tunes such as “My Girl”, “To Love Somebody”, “Stand By Me”, “Pretty Woman” and “Hooked on a Feeling”!
