From the recording Craft Singles

I don't really wanna be a train, but this was written in Michael Muchow's apartment in 1988, when I was on the skids (one of the times I was on the skids). Randy Sabien featured on fiddle, with Pete Johnson, drums; Gary Raynor, bass; Gary Rue, guitar and vocal.

Lyrics

I Wanna Be a Train

I Wanna Be a Train on track,
I wanna ride the rails down to your town,
I wanna be too late to turn back,
I wanna be too hot to cool down,
I Wanna Be a Train

I Wanna Be a Train on time,
I wanna be a smooth glide, a joy ride,
I wanna be the only one on line,
I wanna be a non-stop to your side,
I Wanna Be a Train

Come on and put your feet up,
Take a load off, dontcha fly by,
Ooh, what you’ll be missin’ if you miss this,
Such a good thing, cuz you’re too shy,

I’m standin’ on the platform
With my bags packed and my eyes closed,
Waitin’ for my kiss and when I get one,
I’ll be well done down to my toes,

I Wanna Be a Train, first class,
I wanna feel the engines grab and grab,
I wanna smell the hot smoke, stem heat, black coal, cinder and ash,
I wanna be the best trip that you’ve had…
I Wanna Be a Train
I Wanna Be a Train
I Wanna Be a Train
