Music Style: Beatles with a Girl Singer

Gary Rue has been writing and playing music for audiences throughout the  western hemisphere since the mid-sixties, with songs being recorded by (among others) Nick Lowe and Helen Reddy. Mr. Rue was music director for Gene  (Town Without Pity) Pitney from 1986-2006, and is an IVEY Award  winner for music direction of "The Buddy Holly Story". He is the author of nearly 90 scores
for music theater and is a 2010 inductee of both The MN Music  and The Mid-America Rock and Roll Halls of Fame. Leslie and Gary met in the late 70s and co-founded Rue Nouveau,  which quickly became a favorite of the theater crowd; Leslie starred in stage productions of their concert-play “Painting It Red” (a collaborative effort with Gary Rue and Steven Dietz) in St. Paul and at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. She also had the lead role in John Gaspard’s 1991 film "Beyond Bob". Leslie is the founder and curator of BALLS Cabaret, the longest-running weekly midnight cabaret in human history. Leslie’s CD “Loring Park” won the MN Music Award for Best Female Songwriter.
